Being a musician from a young age I began singing at the age of five. I have been a live performer for about thirty years and have played in many bands from covers bands to original ensembles. At twenty I began to write a lot of my own songs and still do today and have written about two hundred works.

This book and DVD set is a fantastic, absurdly inexpensive treasure trove of information.
OK, the paper used for the book is that thin, crummy, re-cycled stuff, and the ink still gives off ugly fumes.
However, that can be forgiven because of the roughly 3 hours of very useful instruction on the DVD.
Chipkin is very generous with his expertise. So generous, in my opinion, that I just bought his other book/DVD set on Real Rock/Blues, the one with 2 (TWO !!!) DVDs……just to get more Chipkin into my life. (Hope there isn’t too much overlap). Compare these resources with the average $40 dollar per hour guitar lesson….truly a steal.

The only problem with this book is that the DVD doesn’t try to get a student over the tricky parts of the examples; Chipkin does a good job with showing the bits in real time. It is also hard to locate the exact spot on the DVD where each example is. Otherwise, it IS worth the cost.

For anyone of INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED Level that is serious and interested in getting into the Blues, this book is for you. Kenn Chipkin covers a lot of ground on here for your buck.

I have bought several books on amazon like TEXAS BLUES GUITAR from MIT, BLUES RHYTHM GUITAR by MIT and THE BLUES GUITAR HANDBOOK by ADAM ST JAMES, but let me tell you…Even though these books are nicely illustrated and come with a CD, there’s NOTHING like watching an instructional on DVD and seeing what you are reading.

So far, this is THE VERY VERY BEST book and DVD that I have found for the BLUES and I recommend it for the seasoned BLUES player or the technical students that like me, that are Guitar Shredders(Alternate Pickers) and it comes a time where you feel the need to slow down. This IS the book to start. Don’t look anywhere else and spend your money. Start here FIRST!!

I am a self taught electric guitar player but I can reckon a good teacher on video on the spot. Kenn has down packed the TEXAS BLUES style to the T. So if you are interested in SRV and JOHNNY WINTER, this is the way to go.

There are over 3 hours of material to keep everyone busy for quite a while. Honestly, I wish there was a second volume or one day a second volume is released.

I completely agree with the reviewer below me. Today you get charged $45 dollars for a lesson where in here you get a lot more for the price of this book.
